Step 1: Plan and Budget

Step 1: Plan and Budget

Real estate agent explains the home renovation plan as couple looks on with keen interest impressed by the eco-friendly design happy family concept.

Step 1 begins when you contact us by calling 301.742.7187 or sending us a message on our website. We will set up a time for a phone consultation and an in-home estimate. These are free services at no charge to you.

Important things to discuss during your free consultation include the scope of the project, your ideas for design and style, the legal requirements we must meet, how much the materials and labor are likely to cost, and how long the project is likely to take.

Your expert consultant will inspect the space to be renovated, take measurements, and answer your questions about what design, style, and overall plan may work best for renovating your home in Maryland, Virginia, or Washington DC.

Step 2: Legal Permits

Step 2: Legal Permits

During Step 2, you sit back and relax while we obtain the necessary permits. Some projects don’t require permits, while other projects require us to get legal approval before commencing work. We are also required to follow all building codes in our work.

Our professionals are knowledgeable about the laws of Maryland, Virginia, and Washington DC as they pertain to construction and home renovation. They will take the lead here.

While you wait, we invite you to proceed to the initial phases of step 3, in which you will start making design decisions.

Step 3: Design and Blueprint

Step 3: Design and Blueprint

Happy couple meeting with a kitchen designer in a luxury showroom, reviewing catalogs, floor plans, cabinet samples, countertops, and materials for a custom home renovation.

The fun begins in Step 3! You will work with your professional designer consultant to bring your creative ideas to life. Select your style, materials, and colors. Your designer will create a blueprint and a detailed plan for how the renovation process will unfold.

Visit our showrooms to select your materials, appliances, fixtures, and accessories. Meanwhile, our expert craftspeople may need to do asbestos and lead testing to determine what safety measures need to be taken.

Once you have approved the final design and plan, let’s procure the materials and inspect them to ensure everything was delivered properly and in good condition.

Step 4: Demo and Construction

Step 4: Demo and Construction

We’ve done a lot of preparation to get to Step 4. Your project manager will take the lead as our expert craftspeople put the plan into action.

The first phase is demolition and hauling away old materials. There is then a construction phase, which can include building, electrical, and plumbing work. There may be a laying down of tiles, flooring, or siding. Appliances, fixtures, and hardware will be installed. Painting is often the final touch. And of course, the project isn’t complete without cleanup.

During this time, you will communicate regularly with the project manager, who will keep you updated on progress and respond to any questions or needs.

Step 5: Enjoy Your New Home

Step 5: Enjoy Your New Home

It’s time for the big reveal! Step 5 is the completion of the project so you can enjoy your new home. Before closing out the project, we do a final inspection and walkthrough. We also finalize and close out any legal permits. You receive warranty paperwork, and we provide you with pointers on ensuring the longevity of the materials. Enjoy your space!
